ISDE subsidy heat pump 2026: up to €3,025 back

6 min read

If you install a heat pump in 2026 you can count on substantial financial support from the Dutch government. Through the ISDE scheme (Investment Subsidy for Sustainable Energy and Energy Saving) you receive between €2,125 and €3,025 back — and for larger installations up to €4,150. This article explains exactly which amounts apply, for which heat pump types, and how to apply easily.

What is the ISDE subsidy?

ISDE is a national subsidy from the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs for making your home more sustainable. The scheme rewards investment in sustainable heating such as heat pumps, solar boilers and insulation. It is administered by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

How is the ISDE amount calculated in 2026?

From 2026 the ISDE calculation for air-to-water heat pumps has changed. The amount is built from three components:

  • Base amount: €1,025 (was €1,250 in 2025)
  • Per kW: €225
  • A+++ energy label bonus: €200

For the first air-to-water heat pump with A+++ label that means:

Heat pump typeSubsidy amount
Hybrid air-to-water 4 kW (A+++)€2,125
Hybrid air-to-water 6 kW (A+++)€2,575
Hybrid air-to-water 8 kW (A+++)€3,025
All-electric air-to-water 6 kW (A+++)€2,575
All-electric air-to-water 8 kW (A+++)€3,025
Larger installations (10+ kW)up to €4,150
Heat pump boiler (hot water only)€625
Air-to-air heat pump (AC)No ISDE

Important in 2026: you no longer receive ISDE for split systems with a refrigerant charge below 3 kg and a GWP above 750. You always receive a minimum €500 subsidy for a (hybrid) heat pump. We calculate the current subsidy for you during the quote.

Conditions to qualify

Not every heat pump qualifies. The main conditions:

  • RVO equipment list: your heat pump must appear on the official list of validated models.
  • BRL 6000-21 or equivalent: installation by a certified installer (such as GetAirco).
  • Existing home: not for new construction (which must be gas-free by law).
  • Apply within 12 months: you have one year after installation to submit.
  • Final invoice and proof of payment: you can only apply after paying the installer.

What is not covered?

Two important exclusions:

  • ACs (air-to-air heat pumps): despite their heating function, they don't qualify for ISDE. Some municipalities offer their own schemes.
  • New-build homes: new construction has been required to be gas-free since 2018, so no subsidy needed.

How do you apply for the subsidy?

Apply via rvo.nl/isde. You will need:

  1. DigiD (consumers) or eHerkenning (business)
  2. Final invoice from the installer
  3. Proof of payment
  4. Notification code of the heat pump used (provided by the installer)
  5. Your bank account number for payout

We at GetAirco handle the paperwork for you: after installation you receive a complete dossier including notification code and invoice. Payout typically follows within 8 weeks after approval by RVO.

Example: hybrid heat pump

Suppose you choose a compact hybrid heat pump of 4 kW at €5,200including installation:

  • Investment: €5,200
  • ISDE subsidy 4 kW (A+++): -€2,125
  • Net investment: €3,075

With an average gas saving of €800 per year (and €250 extra electricity) your net saving is around €550 per year. That repays your investment in around 5–6 years — excluding gas-price inflation, which typically shortens the payback.

Combine with other subsidies

ISDE can be combined with:

  • Energy Saving Loan via Warmtefonds (low interest).
  • Local municipal schemes — check via energiesubsidiewijzer.nl.
  • VAT refund on solar panels if installed at the same time.

Conclusion

The ISDE subsidy makes a heat pump substantially more affordable. For the most popular hybrid version you get €2,125–€3,025 back (depending on capacity), and for an all-electric €2,575–€3,025. We're happy to help you from start to finish — from advice and installation to submitting the subsidy application.
