Bedroom air conditioning: noise, placement and cost

By Updated 2 min read

The short answer

A split AC can cool and heat a bedroom directly. Prioritise suitable capacity, noise during normal operation and airflow that does not blow onto the bed. The quietest setting or floor area alone cannot tell you how comfortable the room will feel.

What matters when choosing bedroom AC?

  • Noise: compare indoor units at equivalent fan settings and measurement conditions.
  • Airflow: let air circulate through the room without blowing directly onto your head or body.
  • Controls: check the chosen model for a timer, dimmable lights and a night setting.

Is 2.0 or 2.5 kW enough?

It may be, but an attic bedroom with roof windows differs from a sheltered north-facing room. Note floor area, ceiling height, sun exposure and insulation. Explain whether you only want cooling on warm nights or also intend to heat the room.

Ask about minimum as well as maximum capacity. A small room does not automatically benefit from a larger unit.

Where should the indoor unit go?

Discuss the position with the bed and wardrobes marked on a plan. Leave access for filter cleaning and consider the pipe route and condensate drain. A short pipe run is useful, but good air distribution still matters.

An AC does not replace bedroom ventilation. Keep using the ventilation provisions in your home.

What does AC for one bedroom cost?

GetAirco air conditioning starts at €1,999 with standard installation. The model, pipe route and additional work determine the final price. For several bedrooms, we can compare a multi-split with separate systems.

More questions

Should I leave the AC on all night?

That depends on how quickly the room warms up and your preferences. Try cooling before bedtime with a timer. To maintain a temperature overnight, use a gentle setting and avoid directing cold air onto the bed.

Will one unit on the landing cool every bedroom?

Do not rely on that. Doors and corners restrict air distribution. Discuss the comfort needed in each bedroom, especially if you sleep with the doors closed.
